SHS Athletes of the Week

Alexa Bellman is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Alexa had an outstanding performance at the NLL Championships where she earned career-best scores on every event. She placed 6th on vault (8.450), 1st on bars (8.600), 3rd on beam (8.875), and 1st on floor (9.250), securing the All-Around title with a 35.175. In addition to her dominant meet performance, Alexa was also recognized as NLL Gymnast of the Year, a testament to her consistency, growth, and impact throughout the entire season. Her ability to rise to the occasion and lead the team with strong, confident routines made this a truly memorable meet. Coach Alexia Koepke said, "Alexa is an exceptional teammate and leader who has been voted captain by her peers for the past two years. She is one of the hardest workers in the gym and sets a standard that inspires everyone around her. Known as the loudest and most supportive cheerleader on the sidelines, Alexa celebrates her teammates’ successes and continuously encourages others to be the best version of themselves. She often shows more excitement for her teammates’ accomplishments than her own, demonstrating her selfless attitude and genuine love for the team. Alexa’s leadership, positivity, and sportsmanship make her an invaluable member of this program.” Congratulations, Alexa!

Caden Taylor is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Caden Taylor had two strong performances last week, scoring 13 points against Bowling Green and 8 against Napoleon to help the team secure two league victories. Coach Nick Robertson said, "Caden is a model student-athlete who shows up and works hard every day, turning into one of the best shooters on the team. He is a very positive and great teammate and will do whatever is asked of him." Congratulations, Caden!

Olivia Sosbe is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Olivia had four swims at Sectionals, broke four school records, and she was a Sectional champion in the 100 backstroke. Landyn Korb is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Landyn has been a steady senior leader for the boys bowling team. Recently he posted scores of 201, 170, and a career best 213 on senior night. These scores and his dependability have made him an integral part of the team's success. Coach Noah Badenhop said, "As a senior who has been with the program since his freshman year, Landyn has been an example for the current freshmen and other new members of the team. He has been an example of how hard work and perseverance can lead to opportunities and sustained success. Jordyn Pope is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Jordyn is deserving of Athlete of the Week honors because she is encouraging to her teammates on and off the dance floor. She is very prepared and always comes to practice with the right mindset and ready to help wherever she is needed. Coach Ally Beale said, "Jordyn has been an asset in our competition routines and she is the team hype girl! She is always there to lift someone up or help them with counts and choreography. Jason Lee and Ryan Siler are Athletes of the Week for Springfield High School. Both athletes won the Carey Classic in dominating fashion. Ryan won all of his matches by pin or tech fall and Jason won all of his matches by pin. Coach Erik Knapp said, "Ryan is a consistent team leader who pushes his teammates to get better everyday. Olivia Messer is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Olivia’s dedication and hard work continue to stand out. Her strong performance at the Perrysburg meet, including season-high scores on vault and floor, showcased the effort she puts in every day at practice. Coach Alexia Koepke said, "Olivia is one of the most driven athletes on our team. She is in the gym almost every day, constantly working to improve her skills and push herself to the next level. At our meet in Perrysburg, that dedication truly paid off when she landed her Tsuk for the first time this season and earned her highest vault score so far. She also hit both of her tumbling passes and achieved a season-high score on floor. Seeing her confidence grow and watching her hard work translate into strong performances have been so exciting.” Congratulations, Olivia!

Brenna Grover is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Brenna's recent performance was among the best in the league, posting recent scores of 234 and 180 in league play. Her scores have led to competitive matches for the girls team, and put her in contention for all-league honors as the NLL Championships approach. Coach Noah Badenhop said, "Brenna has been the glue that has kept the team together through adversity and rough patches throughout the season. She always has a positive attitude and makes sure her teammates are having fun, even when things aren't going the team's way.
